Laser Surgery is usually used during the procedure of Laparoscopy. The laser is an instrument which utilises advanced optics to produce a highly focused beam of light capable of performing small incisions and/or vaporising abnormal tissues within the pelvic cavity.
Its use enables precise removal of the pathology (e.g. endometriosis) and cauterisation to pre-defined depths of tissue. There are different types of laser for soft tissue operations, these include the Co2 (Carbon Dioxide) lasers and Diode laser.
